…and More Rain
The rain has continued. At least it’s warm, too.
A few weeks ago everyone had rain coats and umbrellas, now we don’t bother. We don’t dash through the drops, either. We just stride through.
I’ve finally spread the rest of the hay – a full round bail – and I could use some more. The field garden is about 3/4 covered and it could use some deeper coverage in spots and I haven’t been back into the blackberries. We could probably use another round bail. Especially if we get the chickens. It would be good for bedding.
Something ate the lettuce in the greenhouse, but they left the spinach. I planted a small patch of mixed lettuce in the back herb/flower garden.
The beets and carrots haven’t sprouted, yet, but a couple of last year’s beets have a few sprouts starting.
The strawberries are looking very perky and they have developed tons of flower buds. Yesterday afternoon the skies brightened enough to even through shadows and the strawberry buds have begun to open. We’re back to dull again today, but I’m hoping that nudge was enough to get them going.
I’m going to get to planting in earnest this long weekend. With May’s full moon past, we should be frost free from here.
